Introducing
The Leadership Field
Helping leaders to build a culture of transformation and innovation
Terena King is a transformation catalyst who works at the intersection of systems thinking, leadership, and human connection.
For more than two decades she has helped leaders navigate complexity by connecting people beyond boundaries, to expand perspective, and shape the conditions for transformation to unfold.
Counterintuitively forcing change contracts what's possible and Terena's work focuses on helping leaders see the systems they are part of more clearly — and to shape the signals that create coherent movement beyond patterns that keep repeating.
She is the founder and steward of The Leadership Field™, The Leader's Ecosystem™, Leadership Signals™, and the Leadership Transformation Cycle™. The Leadership Field is an intentional space where leaders step outside organizational gravity, to explore what leadership is becoming, and shape the signals that influence what unfolds.
Her work focuses on the evolution of leadership from control to connectedness in an increasingly interconnected world and she brings leadership back to being something very human.
"As humans, we already possess the insight, wisdom, and creativity we need to navigate complexity. What is often missing is remembering to create the conditions where what is already present can emerge."
The Leadership Field attracts leaders who sense that this moment in history is asking something more of leadership — and who want their presence to shape what emerges next.
Philosophy and Approach
Philosophy
In a world that is ever evolving leadership is evolving too. And as the complexity and challenges facing the world amplify we realize these are not problems that can be solved in isolation. They are leadership condition problems that require leadership at altitude.
Leadership as a relational field of connection, perspective, and contribution - where leadership can resonate across systems, sectors, and spheres of influence.
Leadership at altitude is not optional in an interconnected world.
Leadership at altitude holds complexity, humanity, and connection together.
Leadership lives at the edge.
Leadership expands through connection.
Leadership at altitude requires a collective presence.
Yet leaders sit inside organizations. Where they cannot shape what they cannot see from inside operational gravity. Disconnected from a wider system that is moving faster than the perspective available to guide what is emerging from within.
. This is the edge of connectedness where ecosystems intersect and perspective expands. Where patterns become visible before organizations can see them.
How do I help leaders expand perspective beyond the boundaries of their own systems so they can see and shape conditions differently?
The unlimited capacity of human potential goes beyond what we have been able to do so far and is limited by our mindsets, and our environments.
It is exciting that science now confirms that mindsets are highly changeable, that the brain is neuroplastic and can form new neural connections - or mindsets - at any point of life. Positive psychology has done a lot to accelerate human awareness and help people create new narratives that are transformative in that they are more self-serving, and coaching is a powerful channel for accelerating human transformation.
Terena has worked at the leading edge of systems and human transformation for over 30 years and is a connector and catalyzer who prefers to move between the roles of shapeshifter, designer, architect, broker, mentor, coach, facilitator and roll-your-sleeves-up team player.
Terena is a Kolbe™ Accredited Practitioner, an Accredited Executive Coach, a member of the International Coaching Federation (ICF), tertiary qualified through Massey University, New Zealand, and a global thought leader in best practice transformation, human development, and systems leadership.
Leadership Connection
The future is no longer shaped by what happens inside our individual systems alone. In an interconnected world, it is shaped at the edge where systems connect.
The Leadership Field™ recognizes that leadership lives at the edge of connectedness. And The Field holds the conditions for leaders to stay connected to what matters, where collectively, perspective expands as the whole system becomes visible and in an interconnected world.
This is leadership at altitude.
The Field is a living relational place where leaders return to orient, recalibrate and remain connected to the dynamics shaping leadership across interconnected, living systems today.
Beyond the gravitational pull of busy operational systems, where leaders shape the conditions for people, organizations, and ecosystems, to adapt, contribute, and respond beyond the current patterns that are holding old systems in place.
Because this is how living systems behave.
Leadership expands through connection at altitude.
Altitude expands perspective.
Perspective enables stewardship.
Stewardship shapes conditions.
And conditions allow systems to respond coherently.
You do not need to arrive with the answers. Only an openness, awareness, and a willingness to participate thoughtfully in conversation with other leaders, where collectively, the whole system becomes visible.
